Chapter 7

I jumped in fear awaking Joshua from his slumber while Miriam stood over our naked bodies holding us at gun point.

“So glad you two are enjoying each other but now I want to talk”, Miriam said.

I could feel Joshua’s hands move behind my back then stuff something underneath the couch cushions.

“Miriam calm down. This is not you. Please put the gun down”, Joshua calmly instructed.

“You betrayed me and now you want me to calm down”, Miriam said laughing menacingly.

“What are you talking about? How did I betray you? All I ever done was try to help you”, Joshua explained.

“You knew I loved you, but you had to turn your love elsewhere. So, if you won’t give your love to me, no one will ever love you again. Both of you get up!” Miriam demanded.

Miriam forced both of us up off the couch and into the bedroom. She made both of us to lie on the bed and handcuffed both of us to the bed.

“After all the sacrifices I did for you, it has come to this”, Miriam sighed.

“Miriam you are talking nonsense. I never let you on. You were my brother’s wife”, Joshua explained.

“What about the night of the party? Was that a mistake?” Miriam asked.

“I was drunk, and you came on to me first. Yes, I admit I was wrong for kissing back but I caught myself and I stopped. That was all. That’s all it’s ever been”, Joshua shouted.

“I knew it was because of Logan and the kids but I got rid of them for you. So, we could be together.”

“Miriam, what are you saying? You killed my brother and my nieces and nephews? How could you? You’re a monster”, Joshua cried.

“It was for you. Plus, I wanted to get rid of those fucking bastards especially because I needed to start over. No kids, no husband, just me and you.”

“You and me? There is no you and me. Don’t you fucking understand. My mother hates me because of your delusion. I hate you! There’s a special place in hell for you!” Joshua screamed.

“How could you hurt someone you love? Don’t you think Logan loved you as well? And your innocent children?” I asked.

“Shut up! You don’t know me. You don’t know my life. You don’t understand”, Miriam said.

“Well time for you both to die.”

Three police officers burst into the room, knocking the door off the hinges.

“Freeze!” one officer yelled with his gun drawn and aiming at Miriam’s back.

Miriam complied and threw the gun on the floor and slowly raised her hands in the air. The officer placed his gun in the holster, grabbed a pocket knife out of her back pocket and before she could move another officer with his gun drawn, shot Miriam twice in her back with one bullet piercing straight threw her heart. I screamed out of fear the moment Miriam was shot. She slowly dropped the knife and fell to the ground lifeless. The third officer ran to the bed where we were and released us from our trap.
